Biogas
Biogas is a type of biofuel obtained from animal waste and food processing. Biogas is a gas produced by the methane fermentation of biomass. The decomposition of biomass occurs under the influence of three types of bacteria. In the food chain, the following bacteria feed on the waste products of the previous ones. The first type is hydrolytic bacteria, the second is acid-forming, and the third is methane-forming. The advantage of biogas production is that for its formation you can use any natural resources, in particular: manure, bird droppings, beer waste, beet pulp, fаeces, grass, household waste, grape pomace, waste molasses production.
Biogas contains – 52 – 75% methane, 25-45% CO2, minor impurities H2 and H2S. After cleaning biogas from CO2, biomethane is obtained. Biomethane is a complete analogue of natural gas, the only difference is in its origin. The biogas yield depends on the dry matter content and the type of raw material used. For example, from the 1st ton of cattle manure comes 30-50 m3 of biogas with a methane content of 60%, or 150-500 m3 of biogas from different plant species with a methane content of up to 70%.
Biogas in Europe. European countries are leading biogas producers. Germany is a leader in biogas energy, with biomass energy accounting for 24%. Leading German companies in the biogas industry: Strabag Umweltanlagen GmbH, Schmack Biogas AG, Biotechnische Abfallverwertung. Great Britain, Sweden and Austria also occupy their niches in biogas production.
European countries see Ukraine’s significant potential in this area, therefore they are actively investing in Ukrainian biogas projects (112 million euros have been invested since 2012). The potential for biogas production in Ukraine is estimated at 7.8 billion m3 / year. Ukraine is significantly behind in the development of the biogas market, but that is why it has huge potential, both due to the low saturation of the market and due to the high rates of development of agriculture, which produces the bulk of bioenergy raw materials.
The use of biogas is a guarantee of energy stability! Its use contributes to the sustainable production of the required energy. Waste raw materials can be used as fertilizer after biogas production, it does not harm the soil and plants.
Biogas purification systems
This equipment is obligatory for installation in biogas plants, gas production and gas treatment plants where there is a high content of corrosive gases (hydrogen sulfide H2S > 100ppm, ammonia NH3 > 50ppm, halogens and siloxanes). This will allow the company to protect cogeneration and boiler equipment, control and safety valves, pipelines from the effects of corrosive gases and increase the service life and ensure the smooth operation of the gas system.
Thanks to their special design and backfill volume, the H2S-AC filters can clean gases with high flow rates at relatively low-pressure drops.
The design of the filter provides for convenient maintenance, namely: filling and unloading the filter material, doesn’t pollute the gas system with coal dust, ensures uniform distribution of the gas flow all over the filter volume and provides for the longest possible contact time of the polluted gas with the coal filling. The design of the filter provides that the control over the quality of gas purification by the filter material is provided by special selection devices.
The specially patented design of the filter provides compact placement of three or more columns at convenient filling of filtering material from bags on 25 kg and big bags on 500 kg (1 m3).
The biogas filter is made entirely of AISI 316 Ti stainless steel, which provides maximum corrosion resistance against aggressive gases and acids. The filter, accordingly, has a guaranteed long service life – more than 10 years.
Filters produced by H2S-AC with a filtering layer are intended for outdoor installation. To reduce the temperature effect, the filter design provides insulation made of non-combustible material with a thickness of at least 100 mm.
The system uses a filter material that has high adsorption characteristics. As a filter filler, high-quality activated carbon from domestic and European manufacturers is used, such as NecaTec (Germany), AdFis (Germany), Selecta (Germany). H2S-AC filters have a large range of gas flow.
